We started a new chore system around here. I wrote all the chores on index cards and the kids are drawing their own chores. It's working well after one week. We'll see how it goes long term.
The kids are pretty possessive of their chores and I should NOT try and help them. At all. However, they are helping each other. The other day, Joseph and Camille went up to get the trash out of the bathroom.
Joseph: Camille, hold this open and BREATH THROUGH YOUR MOUTH!
Adam and I cracked up. Joseph came down, holding the trash at arms length and nearly ran to put it in the outside trash cans. When he came in, he said, "Mom, potty train the boys so I don't have to do that EVER AGAIN!"
